The transition to a circular economy can not go fast enough. To accelerate, information on succesful initiatives needs to be disseminated so that they can quickly be tried elsewhere. Only if we share information on successful community initiatives, business models, policies and other enablers, we can realise the change needed.
Footprints Africa is a Registered UK Charity which advances sustainable, scalable and inclusive approaches to development of local African economies. To bring this mission into practice, it initiated the development of a platform to share circular economy best practices across the continent. Circular economy practioners in Africa can share their initiave on Google Forms, while Footprints is developing a more advanced interface.
For the design and structure of the online case study questionnaire and underlying framework to collect circular economy initiatives across Africa, Footprints Africa engaged Shifting Paradigms. The questionnaire has been alligned with existing initiatives to collect and structure circular economy initiatives by Circle Economy, Rethink Global, Circle Economy Club and the SCP Clearinghouse from UNEP.
Footprints Africa supports small to medium-sized enterprises to adopt future-friendly practices, address the challenges of growth and create jobs, using supply chains as a tool for development. It focusses on two sectors, catering and industrial waste management, leveraging business as a force for good and piloting new business models that exemplify this.
Footprints Africa is the Ghanean representative of the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN).
